Nicotinamide riboside is a new generation of vitamin B3 (niacin or nicotinic acid) . Nicotinamide riboside is a water-soluble vitamin (B3) that plays a role in over 200 biochemical reactions throughout the body. It is the beneficiary of several health claims. Precursor to coenzyme NAD+

The body uses vitamin B3 as a raw material for the coenzyme NAD+. The difference between nicotinamide riboside and other forms of vitamin B3 is that nicotinamide riboside is an exceptionally efficient precursor to NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide). As a natural substance, nicotinamide riboside is present in milk, though only in minimal trace amounts.

There are different forms of vitamin B3: niacin (or nicotinic acid) and niacinamide (or nicotinamide riboside). Niacin may cause hot flushes after ingestion: the skin and face become warm and red. Nicotinamide riboside or nicotinamide mononucleotide?

NMN must therefore first be broken down before it can make NAD+. NR has direct access to the cell and is a form of vitamin B3; NMN is not.
